My next book, another murder mystery, is currently going through editing, cover design, and production of the audio. It is due for publication worldwide in all formats on 8 March 2023. You can already pre-order it on amazon here. I am very excited. This is the first in a series, all to be set on the Isle of Wight, featuring Susan, who loves the island, a regular dog walker who finds herself investigating a murder.
Good Neighbours is now on sale. As ever, you can get it as a paperback, an ebook and an audiobook from all the usual retailers. This link will take you straight to its amazon page. I recorded a Facebook live with fellow author Della Galton where I talk about the book and answer questions. You can view it here

Recently I was interviewed by Anna Britton about my approach to writing, how I produce a first draft, how I moved from women’s fiction to murder mystery and more. The interview is now on YouTube here.
This is a book I very much enjoyed recently which I highly recommend. This is my review on amazon:
This book reminded me so much of one of my favourite books ‘Rebecca’ by Daphne Du Maurier. The Room in the Attic is a compelling, dark, heart-breaking, gripping read. I literally stayed up late into the night to finish it.
The story alternates between two stories, one a nurse caring for a little girl when the house was an asylum in 1903 and two troubled boys in the same house in 1993 when the house was a boys’ boarding school. So often with books set in different times I find myself preferring gone over the other, but this was different. Both stories were so beautifully written that I loved them both equally.
It is a beautifully crafted, well researched novel. The details of life in an asylum and attitude towards women in the early 20th century were shocking, as indeed were some of the descriptions of life in a boarding school in far more recent times.
However, it is the warmth of the relationships that develop in both timelines that will stay with me. They are beautifully written and heart breaking at times, but they give the book hope and light.
Having been through such a journey it was brilliant that, at the end, the writer gave us a glimpse into the lives of the characters after the story ended.
“As Juliet’s father lies dying, he issues her with a warning. There is a killer on the loose, and they may be closer than she can ever imagine.”
My next book, The Island, will be published by Boldwood Books on 24 June 2021 in all formats worldwide. It is now available for pre-order. If you click on the cover image above you will be taken to the Amazon uk site. I’ve recorded a short video about the book which you can view on my amazon author page here. I hope you will enjoy it, and as always I welcome reader feedback. Just click on the “Contact” tab above to let me know what you think.
On Sunday 28 March I took part in a live broadcast for the Reading Between The Lines Book Festival with fellow writer Diane Saxon. It is available to view here.
I heard Martin Edwards speak at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival some time ago and was keen to read this, his latest novel. It is very well researched, a book steeped in the the 1930’s. A classic whodunnit. I have always loved Agatha Christie and this is one of the few books that has matched hers. I loved the character of Rachel Saverneck. A great read, highly recommend.
Thia is a book I thoroughly enjoyed recently by one of my favourite authors. The pacing is perfect, with twists and turns all the way through. It combines brilliant plotting with complex, well-developed characters.
Stella is a wonderful protagonist: strong, determined, independent, and yet vulnerable. I loved the way she used her work as a dog behaviorist (fascinating in itself) to analyze and handle people.
A great read, highly recommended.
My next novel, The Island, is now with the editors before publication in June 2021 by Boldwood Books. It is available for pre-order on Amazon here
Like The House Party it is set on the Isle of Wight, and it starts with a suspicious death.
Keep an eye here and on my Amazon page for more news.
